Anne Hathaway Biography And Filmography: With her flowing brown hair, big piercing eyes and outstanding acting talent, Anne Hathaway was labeled as a sexy celebrity to watch from the time she made her prime time acting debut as oldest daughter Meghan Green in the Fox network drama series "Get Real" (1999-2000). The Brooklyn New York native defined her talent as a young child performer in theater, gaining her experience in numerous productions at the famous Paper Mill Playhouse appearing in "Gigi" with Gavin MacLeod, and the musical "Jane Eyre". She was also the first teenager accepted into the acting study program at The Barrow Group located in New York. Although she had tried to grab several Broadway roles, she found that her tall build of almost 6 feet, and young body frame was not the best fit for Broadway. She was too tall to be convincing in children's roles and too young looking to play adult roles. She was perfect for television and movies and was soon hired and cast in the part of the unrealistic high school girl in "Get Real" which gained her attention and good reviews.
Moving to the movie screen, she was cast in the independent production of a missionary to Tonga in "The Other Side of Heaven". Viewers first saw the actress as Mia, a self-conscious San Francisco teen girl who learns she's part of a royal family, in the comedy "The Princess Diaries" with Mandy Moore (2001), directed by veteran Garry Marshall. Holding her own with such big name co-stars as Julie Andrews (as her grandmother), Hector Elizondo (as an adviser) and Heather Matarazzo as Mia's buddy, she showed a comic flair, and displayed a powerful screen presence that would surely lead to a long and famous Hollywood career and celebrity status. The actress repeated her role in the sequel "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" (2004), the same year she appeared in the reality twisted Cinderella story, "Ella Enchanted", where her character Ella is bound by a spell of submission and is the reason for her shrinking violent personality. Trying to break into more adult roles, in 2003 she appeared in the feature film "Havoc" with Michael Biehn, as part of a group of Beverly Hills high school students who are greatly influenced by the cool kids from South Central, and are taught a lesson by a teacher when catastrophe strikes the wealthy teens. While the film tried to be edgy, she got rid of her good girl image for her first nude sex scene in the film, the movie was never able to find distribution and was sent straight to video in 2005. Millions of viewers waited for the video simply to see the naked sex scenes that had Hollywood buzzing. A much more mature and adult role came with her performance in director Ang Lee's smash hit "Brokeback Mountain" (2005), where she played the sexy, horse riding Texan Lurleen, who becomes the rich wife of ranch hand Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), despite his hidden, multi year homosexual love affair with another cowboy played by the late Heath Ledger.
The actress was set to become one of Hollywood's leading ladies when she was cast as Andrea Sachs, the superwoman of the film variation of the best selling book "The Devil Wears Prada" (2005), where a small city girl who is hired to work for the authoritative editor (Meryl Streep) of a New York fashion magazine. She then appeared in the biographical drama "Becoming Jane" (2007), a portrait of a pre-fame Jane Austen and her romance with a young Irishman. Anne moved in to 2008 with a bang, and started off with the comedy "Get Smart" (2008) starring Steve Carell, about Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 for CONTROL, who battles the forces of KAOS with the more-competent Agent 99 at his side. She then was cast in the independent horror thriller "Passengers" (2008) about a grief counselor working with a group of plane-crash survivors who finds herself at the root of a mystery when her clients begin to disappear. She was then was cast in the starring role about an ex-model who has been in and out of rehab for the past 10 years, and returns home for the weekend for her sister's wedding, in "Dancing with Shiva" (2008). She wrapped up her year with the romantic comedy "Bride Wars" (2009) starring Kate Hudson, about two best friends who become rivals when they schedule their respective weddings on the same day.
