Elisha Cuthbert Biography:
As a past child superstar whose fame continued into her early teen years, blonde hottie Elisha Cuthbert has successfully passed from "Popular Mechanics for Kids" and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" into a leading role on the smash hit FOX series "24" and a successful film career.
Calgary Canada born and raised who got her first modeling job at the early age of nine, it was just four years later that Elisha Cuthbert knew that she wanted to use the rest of her days in front of the camera, on a television or movie screen. After an appearance in the 1997 feature "Dancing on the Moon", Cuthbert was hired for a job as a field journalist for the Canadian television show "Popular Mechanics for Kids" as one of the only girl reporters - her reporting proved so valuable that she caught the attention of first lady Hillary Clinton, who invited her to Washington for a dinner meeting with the president.
While Cuthbert spent the greater part of her teen years in Montreal, she relocated to Los Angeles at age seventeen in order to seek an acting career. Featured roles as an unenthusiastic pilot in "Airspeed" (1998) and a time traveling young teen girl in "Time at the Top" (1999) were soon to follow, and by the time she was hired onto the cast of Nickelodeon's "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" in 1999, it was noticeable that her ability was mounting.
Her role in the Canadian television feature "Lucky Girl", portraying another teen role, only furthered her status as a rising celebrity, and her onscreen facial expressions and realistic performance soon grabbed the eyes of producers who were developing a new thriller series for FOX starring Kiefer Sutherland.
Cast as Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) daughter, Kimberly, in the breakout smash hit "24", her character survived through numerous kidnappings, and a mountain lion attack over the course of the series' first three seasons.
In the episode of "24" where Elisha shared a scene with a mountain lion, she made news when the animal actually attacked her on the production set, sending the injured actress to the hospital emergency room with an injured elbow and hand.
After the season production of "24" ended, Cuthbert was cast in a supporting role in the comedy "Old School" (2003) starring Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson and Will Ferrell about three men who are disenchanted with life and try to recapture their college days. Next Elisha appeared in the comedies "Love Actually" (2003) featuring Keira Knightley and Colin Firth which follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love and sex lives in various loosely and interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England.
Cuthbert then starred in the comedy-romance-drama "The Girl Next Door" (2004) where a young girls dreams come true when a former porn star moves in next door and they fall in love. In 2005, she also appeared in the silly but enjoyable movie "House of Wax" appearing with wannabe celebrity Paris Hilton about six friends who are stranded in a ghost town where a towering wax museum looms ahead, and inside are two brothers who have a special way of making the wax figures look real.
Also in 2005 was "The Quiet" with David Gallagher and Edie Falco about a young deaf and mute woman, is sent to live with her godparents and their daughter. Next Cuthbert starred in the crime drama "Captivity" (2007) about a man and a woman who awaken to find themselves captured in a cellar. As their kidnapper drives them psychologically mad, the truth about their horrific abduction is revealed. Next, the actress starred along side Christian Slater in the comedy-drama "He Was A Quiet Man" (2007), where an office worker inadvertently becomes a hero after he saves a woman's life.
Moving into 2008, Elisha continued to crank out the films with a leading role with Jesse Bradford in the romantic comedy "My Sassy Girl" (2008), about a sweet Midwestern guy (Bradford) with his life planned out for himself is wooed, groomed, and ultimately dumped by a complicated, elusive gal. Next she starred with Tim Allen in "The Six Wives Of Henry LeFay" (2008) and then lent her voice talents to the animated comedy adventure "Cat Tale" (2008), the story of a cat named Rover, who has been raised as a dog in Dogtown, by accident. Then he heads to Catopolis to discover where he really came from and find his roots.
Cuthbert again tried her hand on TV and hit the
mother load when she was cast in 79 episodes as Kim Bauer, the wife of
the now infamous Jack Bauer played by Kiefer Sutherland, in the smash
hit TV series “24” (2001-2012) with its unique style showing the life
of Federal Agent Jack Bauer can't afford to always play by the rules,
and as a member of the L.A. Counter Terrorist Unit he must stop bombs,
viruses, assassination attempts, and usually save someone he cares
about at the same time. Every season of this series has 24 episodes,
each unfolding in real time.
Elisha followed her success on “24” with another
TV crime drama in “The Forgotten” (2009-2010) working again with
Christian Slater who is a former policeman and runs his team of
volunteers to try and identify not just dead bodies… but forgotten
After “The Forgotten” ended, Elisha Cuthbert
jumped right back in to series TV with a 33 episode deal on the comedy
“Happy Endings” (2012) about a couple prepared to get married but break
up on their wedding day, forcing their friends to choose which side to
take after the split.
