Eva Longoria Biography:

Not one to shy away from her noticeable sex appeal, actress Eva Longoria has excelled at portraying sexy Latinos during her career. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, a town she has regularly returned to over the years, Longoria was the youngest of four daughters growing up on the family farm. Though gorgeous in her adult years, she has described herself as the most common looking child ever as a young child, her family gave her the pet name prieta fea, or ‘ugly dark one’, because she was the only sibling with black hair, black eyes and dark skin.

After emerging into a eye-catching young lady, Longoria attended Texas A&M University at Kingsville, where she received her Baccalaureate in Kinesiology, the study of body movement. When she wasn’t studying, Longoria appeared on stage in university theater productions.

After graduation, Longoria won an Infinity Model Search contest, which led to her discovery by a theatrical agent. She soon found herself in small parts on television, including an episode of “Beverly Hills, 90210” (Fox, 1990-2000), and was cast as Isabella Brana on the long running daytime soap opera, “The Young and the Restless” (CBS, 1972- ).

Longoria was flattered with an ALMA Award for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama in 2002 for her efforts on the daily soap opera.  Eva then hosted “The Talent Agency” (2003), a syndicated talent variety program that was short-lived and not seen by many. In “Hot Tamales Live”, a Pay-Per-View comedy special, Longoria had the opportunity to show her comic talents. But regardless of her mounting experience, Longoria could not make herself a household name. That was all about to change.

Longoria got her first regular television series role as Detective Vanessa Cruz on “L.A. Dragnet” (ABC, 2002-2004). Joining the ensemble cast after a massive shake-up in 2003, Longoria liked the role for only one season, the show was canceled in April 2004. But her luck changed when she hired and cast on the project “Desperate Housewives” (ABC, 2004- ) starring Terri Hatcher, a smash hit that made Hollywood take notice of Eva's talents. A dark comedy about the world of five housewives who live on the same street as told by a friend who committed suicide, “Desperate Housewives” went from an unknown pilot project written by Chuck Pratt to the hottest show on television.

The television series was grateful when the Hollywood Foreign Press (HFP) announced its Golden Globe nominations, it received five, including Best Television Series-Comedy. Four of the five lead actresses also received nominations, but Longoria’s name was not on the list. Eva believed the snub was due to her not attending the HFP Lunch because of a dying aunt in Texas. Her co-stars, however, offered Longoria their support and frustration, an act of generosity not lost on her.

After a small, well deserved vacation, Longoria tried her hand at feature films with “Harsh Times” (2005), a drama starring Christian Bale as a soldier returning from Iraq. Eva also appeared as Jenny in the mystical mystery, “The Dead Will Tell” (2004), a television movie that was aired on CBS in the Fall 2004.

In 2005, Eva Longoria became the face of Bebe Sport while working for L'Oreal and Hanes as  spokesperson. She also married NBA superstar Tony Parker. In 2006, Eva portrayed an ambitious secret agent and spy opposite Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland in "The Sentinel"

And with Desperate Housewives still going strong in 2008, there was talk of a spin-off movie for the big screen.
