Gena Lee Nolin Biography And Filmography: A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Gena Lee Nolin and her family moved to Las Vegas for her senior year in high school. Nolin also attended Santa Monica college where she studied interior design. After graduation, Gena headed to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Like many aspiring actors, she paid her dues waiting tables at places like The Larry Parker Diner. At the recommendation of friends, Nolin entered and won the Miss Las Vegas contest. Gena quickly gained the attention of several modeling and talent agencies, winning the Ford Model Agency and Elite Modeling Agency regional "Look of the Year" contests and the Miss Barbizon USA national title. In 1994, Gena responded to an ad in the paper for "The Price Is Right" game show. At the cattle-call audition, Nolin beat out hundreds of others, winning a spot as one of the game show's showcase models. "It was a great job. We would work three days a week, filming two shows a day with a ten day break every two weeks. It allowed me time to continue with my studies and auditions."
Nolin appeared on "The Young & The Restless," playing the part of a young model named Sandy. She has also be seen on national television commercials for "Home Depot", "Star Burst", and "Hyundai" as well as the spokesperson for "Sassoon Jeans", "Clothestime" and "Maui and Sons" Then Gena Nolin got her big break. She was asked to audition for a new evening television dramatic series about lifeguards on the beach in California. The show, which spawned new talent for years, was considered cutting edge at the time for the bikini wearing, large breasted women who would grace the television screen during prime time. Gena was accepted into the cast and given the role of Neely Capshaw for 36 episodes. The show was a smash hit, especially with young teen boys, as the half naked life guards seemed to forever be saving lives and foiling plots of drug running and international espionage. The series jump started the careers of David Hasselhoff, Jeremy Jackson, Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth, Erika Eleniak, Nicole Eggert, Carmen Electra, Traci Bingham and Vanessa Angel. Every episode the series followed the adventures of a team of lifeguards on a crowded resort beach. Veteran lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff) watched over the younger lifeguards that come and went with each passing season as they keep the beaches safe for vacationers. Frequently he had to take action to save them from the raging seas and from the raging tempers that sometimes flare up between the young sexy guards in this stressful job. This long-running series follows the adventures of a team of lifeguards on a crowded resort beach. Veteran lifeguard Mitch Buchannon watches over the younger lifeguards that come and go with each passing season as they keep the beaches safe for vacationers. Frequently he must take action to save them from the raging seas and from the raging tempers that sometimes flare up between the young guards in this stressful job. Gena Nolin then tried her hand at comedy with "The Underground Comedy Movie" (1999), a series of comedic short films guaranteed to offend. Critics hated the series of short sketches due to the tasteless jokes and frequent nude scenes and naked parody. Staying with comedy, Gena then appeared in "The Flunky" (2000) starring James Van Patten, Gary Coleman and James Van Patten. The film was about rock star Tyler Mann who is in search of a new flunky - Enter Sammy Bestone. Crashing rent free in Tyler's LA compound Sammy and Tyler develop a curious but strong bond. Closer than Siegfried and Roy. They share everything. Women, gambling debts, laughs and rock-n-roll. But it's not all good times. Their dual gambling habit leads them to the magnetic and beautiful Sondra whom both have promptly fallen in love with! Tyler's unpredictable persona has him abusing poor Sammy at his every whim. But Sammy hangs tough. He know that theirs is a co-dependant relationship.
Nolin returned to television series work with "Sheena" (2000-2002) the female jungle series based on a popular comic book. She appeared for 34 episodes before the series was cancelled. In 2003, the old cast of "Baywatch" returned for dull and common television movie called "Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding" (2003). In the movie we learn Mitch Buchannon didn't die in a boat explosion in the 10th season but has been recovering from amnesia in Los Angeles. Mitch returns to Hawaii to get married again. His new fiancée Allison looks a lot like Lt. Stephanie Holden, a past love. Little does he know, Allison is cooperating with Mason Sato who appeared in the show's 2nd season and now returns for revenge. The Baywatch clan are invited to Hawaii by CJ, who's opening CJ's Bar & Grill at the Turtle Bay Resort. Coincidentally, Caroline Holden is already there filming a soap opera. Neely Capshaw (ex-Mrs. Buchannon) comes to Hawaii to stop the wedding. She wants Mitch back! In addition to her role on "Baywatch," Gena did guest commentary on the popular entertainment magazine show, "Extra!" She also hosted a USA Network Special "The 50th Anniversary of the Bikini." Gena also participated in a nude photo shoot for the popular Playboy Magazine. With her success on Baywatch, millions of fans rushed at the chance to see Gena nude as a Playboy centerfold. That month's publication was one of the fastest selling Playboy in the companies history.
