Biography:

Young teen actress Hilary Duff  rose to fame on the force of her winning performance on the television series "Lizzie McGuire". Born in Houston, Texas, September 28, 1987, she gained a fascination for dance and stage at the age of seven and started taking ballet lessons, later making her stage introduction in a Christmas production of The Nutcracker.

Hilary Duff grew a strong love for acting after being hired in her first television commercial, and, in 1998, appeared in the film "Casper Meets Wendy" as Wendy, a teenage witch.

After attempting a more theatrical role in the television production of "The Soul Collector" and guest appearances on "Chicago Hope" working with Lauren Holly, Duff was hired in the lead role of "Lizzie McGuire" in 2001. A television series situation comedy for young teens, "Lizzie McGuire" revolved around the troubles and evils of middle school student Lizzie as she and her animated alter-ego cope with the amusing side of the teenage years. An instantaneous smash hit on The Disney Channel, the series made Duff a identifiable celebrity to television viewers around the country, and Disney quickly responded by hiring her in movie adaptation of, "Cadet Kelly". In 2002, she also made a guest appearance in the comedy "Human Nature", playing Young Lila, a long-haired teen who grows up to become Patricia Arquette.

After the success of Lizzie McGuire, Hilary tried her skills in the music business, writing and performing a song for the television show's soundtrack album, and recording a Christmas album in 2002. Released in theaters in the summer of 2003, "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" gave the ultimate movie substitute for teen girls not interested in the action of "X2: X-Men United" and not old enough yet to be pulled into the hype of "The Matrix Reloaded" both which were released at the same time.

Pulling in three times the cost of production in only eight weeks at the box office, Hilary Duff shocked fans by announcing that because of a contract negotiation breakdown, she would be leaving the "Lizzie McGuire" show to seek other acting projects. By the time the show's finale was broadcast in late 2004, she had already started her movie career, ending 2003 with three smash hit movies ready for release: "Agent Cody Banks" with "Malcolm In The Middle" star Frankie Muniz, the already released "Lizzie McGuire Movie", and the holiday smash hit "Cheaper by the Dozen" with superstar Steve Martin and a bit part by Ashton Kutcher.

Hoping to keep her career growing, Hilary Duff worked on three additional features, two of which were produced by director Mark Rosman. The first was the drama "Raise Your Voice", portraying a small town girl who learns to fight for her superstar celebrity goals.

In 2005, Hilary worked on the sequel "Cheaper by the Dozen 2", getting to work with friend Carmen Electra, and starring opposite Heather Locklear in the romantic comedy thriller "The Perfect Man". In 2006 she starred and produced the Martha Coolidge created "Material Girls", where both her and her sister Haylie played spoiled heiresses whose world changes radically when their family loses its money. The parody did not connect with critics, or even with the her long standing teen fans.

Sadly, Hilary and Disney could not agree on her salary and other contract issues, so she left Disney to follow her own interests and career objectives, and there is no doubt we will be seeing more of her as the seasons unfold.

Hilary then appeared in the action thriller "War, Inc." (2008), a political satire set in Turaqistan, a country occupied by an American private corporation run by a former United States Vice President (Dan Aykroyd). Then she starred next to Charlie Sheen and Eva Longoria Parker in the animated comedy "Foodfight!" (2008), where when the lights are turned off and the doors are locked, chaos reigns supreme for the products in this grocery store. Then Hilary Duff was cast in the drama "Greta" (2008), about a waitress falls for an ambitious cook at a restaurant where they work. But as their love blossoms, she has to overcome concerns of her grandparents who are worried about the mixed-race relationship and her boyfriends criminal past.

The Duff up the year with another drama in "Safety Glass" (2008), set in the mid-80's when a reporter is sent to cover the Challenger Space Shuttle launch only to become mixed up in the lives of some local students.
