Jessica Alba Biography: Jessica Marie Alba was born in Pomona,
California, on April 28, 1981. Jessica’s family relocated to Biloxi,
Mississippi while Jessica was still a young girl. Her father, who was an Air
Force Officer, again relocated the children to Del Rio, Texas. Ultimately, the family
settled in southern California when Jessica was ten years old. Jessica had always
wanted to be an actress as long as she could remember. She took her first acting
and drama lessons at the age of thirteen. Not long after that, Jessica was
hired by a management and talent agency.
Many more magazines, movie and film offers stared to flood Alba's mailbox. Shortly after the release of her previous movies, she was hired for the leading role in "Paranoia" directed by Larry Brand. "Paranoia" was released to a mixed assortment of reviews, but all-told, Alba received generally good reviews and attention for her work. Shortly after "Paranoia" she started production on what would potentially be her largest role and most exposure to the Hollywood limelight.. She auditioned for the leading role in "Dark Angel". She caught the attention of uber famous producer and director James Cameron (Titanic) and was cast as the lead role of the series bringing her status to sexy Hollywood celebrity. With the huge success of "Dark Angel" and its legion of fans and cult clubs, Jessica Alba was no longer just a rising star, she was among the Hollywood elite - a super star. Alba's opportunities stretched along with her success, following the cancellation of “Dark Angel”, much of it to do with her too-hot body, gorgeous looks and toned body. In 2001, she became a spokeswoman for L'Oreal hair products and in 2002, she starred in the sleeper film "The Sleeping Dictionary" as a South American woman who falls in love with a British man.. Her first major nod toward big screen celebrity status came in the form of "Honey" (2003).
It was her next project that propelled her into our homes as a household word. In the visually dazzling "Sin City" (2005), directed by Robert Rodriguez and comic book creator Frank Miller, Alba played Nancy Callahan, a pole dancer. Following that sexy entry to the film world, it was announced that Alba was cast as Sue Storm, better known as the Invisible Girl, in the film adaptation of the classic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby Marvel Comic, "The Fantastic Four" (2005). Though Alba eagerly played her role, her efforts were diluted by an absolute absence of chemistry with co-star and love interest Ioan Gruffudd and the movie's odd-ball, unbelievable plot and dry script. Alba's third film of 2005, the underwater diving drama "Into the Blue" (2005) opposite Paul Walker, was well-known by its eye-catching scenery. and Alba's frequently bikini wearing, hard body, which made her status as Hollywood's breakout sex symbol of 2005 complete. Next up were sequels to "Sin City" and "Awake" (2007), an independent film about a man (Hayden Christensen) who is left completely paralyzed due to an accident. In 2007, Alba returned to the big-screen to repeat her role as the "Invisible Girl" in director Tim Story’s sequel, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.” With a much larger role this time around, the plot of the film centered on the wedding of her character to Ioan Gruffudd’s Reed Richards (a.k.a. “Mr. Fantastic” in the comic books). Unfortunately, audiences and critics alike just could not buy into the premise of the plot and dialog.
