Making the jump from a cast member of the Nickelodeon smash hit sketch comedy series "All That" to starring in her own sitcom, Jamie Lynn Spears loves the chance to follow in some famous foot steps. "It's a dream come true," she says . "I grew up watching Nickelodeon with my friends back in Louisiana and fantasized about someday joining the cast of "All That" and becoming a television celebrity.
One of my idols, Amanda Bynes, started her career on the show, and then was given her own sketch series. "The idea that I did it also is the coolest thing in the world." Winner of Hollywood Life "One To Watch" Award, she was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award, in the category of "Breakout Female Performer," for her job on "Zoey 101" and just won the award for Favorite Television Actress at the 2006 Kids Choice Awards for her role on "Zoey 101".
"Zoey 101" started its second season in September 2007 and was nominated for an Emmy for "Best Children's Program".
On of the newest cast members of the "All That" crew of actors, she was hired for her role on the series back in 2001 after impressing executive producer Dan Schneider with her role of an 85-year-old female body guard, motivated by her own grandmother. She has also appeared with her older sister Britney in a Pepsi commercial and in live concerts, "Britney Spears: Live from Las Vegas."
Her major movie credits include a role in the MTV movie "Crossroads" appearing with her big sister. She attended high school at Parklane Academy in Mississippi where she was on the cheer leading squad and basketball team, and admits she has a strong resemblance to her television alter ego. "I love that we’re so similar," she says. "Zoey is a organizer who speaks her mind, and she's determined to succeed at her new school. She's also pleasant, friendly and physical, especially in basketball and so am I."
The actress is not the same when it comes to sisters. Being the youngest of three in real life, she enjoys the televised chance to give big sisterly guidance to her loving eleven year old television brother. "It's kind of fun to be the one with the most know-how for a change," she says.
In her off hours, she visits with her friends back in Kentwood, Louisiana, for trips on their 4-wheelers and neighborhood softball games. And when's she's not hanging out with friends and family she is perfecting her cheerleading.
Jamie Lynn announced in December 2007 that she had become pregnant with an expected spring 2008 delivery.
She will next star as the voice of Goldilocks in the animated family comedy "Unstable Fables: Goldilocks & 3 Bears Show" (2009) with Brooke Shields.
