Vanessa Angel Biography And Filmography: This British-born beauty came to America and became known to cable viewers as Lisa, the virtual-reality goddess created by two geek teen males in "Weird Science," the USA Network series based on the 1986 feature - the role was originated by another model-turned-actress, Kelly LeBrock). Pouty-lipped and honey blonde, Vanessa Angel was born and raised in the London area. By her early teens, she had been signed to a modeling contract and was on magazine covers all around the world. In 1985, Vanessa Angel made her feature film debut in the small role of a Russian rocket crew member in "Spies Like Us" (1985) about two bumbling government employees who think they are U.S. spies, only to discover that they are actually decoys for Nuclear War. Other roles followed, but were small at first, as in Abel Ferrara's "King of New York" (1990) and in "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot" (1992) as a flight attendant. Angel moved on to lead roles in the B-movie "Homicidal Impulses" (1992), playing a deadly beauty who seduces Scott Valentine. It took another four years before she landed on the A-list, cast as the street-smart lass teaching Woody Harrelson the true art of the hustle in the Farrelly brothers' "Kingpin" (1996) about a star bowler whose career was prematurely "cut off" who hopes to ride a new prodigy to success and riches.
Next was the romantic comedy "Sleep with Me" (1994) starring Meg Tilly, about the marriage and turbulent relationship of Joseph and Sarah, with Joseph's best friend Frank trying hard to cope with letting the love of his life marry his best friend. Featuring Quentin Tarantino in a cameo as Sid, a movie-bore party hound. Angel's next role put her in the sights of movie watchers and jump-started her career, with the role of Natasha in the romantic comedy "Kissing a Fool" (1998) starring David Schwimmer, about Max (Schwimmer), who is a popular local sports broadcaster and his marriage with attractive Sam is already arranged. Max is not sure he wants Sam to be his wife and offers his best friend Jay a test: Jay will try to seduce Sam and if he fails Max will have enough trust in Sam to go on with a marriage. Jay refuses, but soon they become professionally connected with Sam. The film was not a big block-buster but gave Vanessa Angel the attention that would keep her in front of viewers for years to come.
While none of Angels movies were big block-busters, they did bring her to the attention of television writers and producers looking for her style of rough and tumble action fare. She had many guest appearances on TV shows including "The Equalizer", "Baywatch", "Raven", "Reasonable Doubts", "Melrose Place", "Melrose Place", "Time Trax", "Veronica's Closet" with Kirstie Alley, "Stargate SG-1" and The Division". Vanessa Angel then roared into movie theaters during the next few years in bigger budget and higher profile feature films. The first was the crime comedy "The Perfect Score" (2004) featuring Scarlett Johansson, about six high school seniors who decide to break into the Princeton Testing Center so they can steal the answers to their upcoming SAT tests and all get perfect scores. NExt for Vanessa Angel was the horror thriller "Out For Blood" (2004).
She then starred alongside Scott Baio and Jon Voight in the family comedy "SuperBabies: Baby Geniuses 2" (2004) where a group of smart-talking toddlers find themselves at the center of a media mogul's experiment to crack the code to baby talk. The toddlers must race against time for the sake of babies everywhere. Angel then appeared in the young teen feel-good comedy movie "Popstar" (2005), whose only purpose seemed to be to exploit the rising success of young teen heart-throb Aaron Carter. Vanessa then had a misfire. She appeared in the comedy "Endless Bummer" (2008) about a group of young teens and a veteran surfer who take a road trip from Ventura, CA to the San Fernando Valley in order to track down a prized stolen surfboard. Angel recovered nicely with the romantic comedy "Blind Ambition" (2008) a teen comedy about angst and male and female relationships. Angel wrapped her year with a starring role in the sci-fi thriller "Level Seven" (2008) about a U.S. Marshal who tracks down a fugitive with strange powers. In 2008, Vanessa ventured back to the world of television movies with the crime and horror film "The Mars Shuttle Murders" (2008) a murder mystery taking place on a Mars Shuttle.
