Justin Bieber is the runaway YouTube sensation that stormed the
world by releasing his self-produced videos onto the internet. Within
months, his videos had gone viral and millions of fans had joined his
social networking sites.
After pop singer Usher Raymond heard Bieber's music, he signed him
to a recording contract, as well as marketed and helped create a buzz
about the young entertainer.
His popularity grew so fast that during a 2009-scheduled appearance
at a New York mall so many teenage girls showed up that police shut the
event down. An employee of the record company was arrested for
interfering with officers after a fan yelled they saw Bieber inside an
Abercrombie Kids store.
Bieber then decided to try his hand in the world of television as he appeared in two episodes of CSI, and presented awards at several awards show. He cleaned up at the American Music Awards by both performing and winning multiple statues with his mentor Usher.
In February 2011, Justin Bieber released his first 3D movie - "Never Say Never". While written as a documentary, the film contained lots of concert footage and background information from friends and family. It told the story of hard work and perseverance - not an easy instant rise to stardom.
The young pop star had a brief run in with the law in 2010 as
he was bullied by a young 12 year-old-boy during a paint ball game.
Witnesses told police the young boy called Bieber a fag and used other
insulting homophobic slurs. No charges were ever filed but Justin did
appear in a short public service announcement against gay bullying.
Also in 2011, Bieber was rumored to be dating young Disney
star Selena Gomez. While he denied the rumors, severel sets of
professional photos were leaked to the internet causing some to think
the star was fighting anti-gay bashing by frequently being seen and
photographed with young girls.
