Vitamin : FOLIC ACID

Why it is needed

This B-Vitamin helps synthesize nucleic acids such as RNA & DNA. Necessary for red blood cell production, growth and reproduction. Essential during pregnancy, shown to reduce the risk of neural tube defects (birth defects affecting the brain and/or spinal cord). The U.S. Public Health Service recommends 400mcg a day of folic acid for women of childbearing age.

Where it is found

Brewer's yeast, liver, and green leafy vegetables.

What it is most effective with

B-Complex, B-12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Vitamin C.

Other Information

Needed for normal growth and development and red blood cell formation. Helps reduce risk of neural tube birth defects. May reduce the risk of cervical dysplasia.
